Privacy policy.

Persistence exists to show you your money — not to take liberties with it. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the controls you have. For the technical detail on how it's protected, see our Security & Privacy page.

Who we are

Persistence ("Persistence", "we", "us") provides a personal-finance dashboard, a desktop HUD, and AI tools that help you see and understand your own money. This policy applies to the Persistence website, web app, desktop app, and API. If you have questions, contact support@persistence.finance.

What we collect

How we use it

We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

AI features

What the AI sees

When you use AI insights or chat, relevant parts of your financial picture (balances, recent transactions, bills, goals) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate your answer. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, that data is not used to train their models. AI features are optional — the dashboard and HUD work without them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal or financial data — no advertisers, no data brokers, no "anonymized" data sales. We share data only with the service providers that make the product work, each acting on our behalf:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

How it's stored & protected

All connections use TLS/HTTPS. Data is held in a managed PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest, and your Plaid access tokens are additionally encrypted at the application level (AES‑256‑GCM) before storage. Sessions are short-lived and renewed with rotating refresh tokens. Full detail is on our Security & Privacy page.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal and financial data and revoke your bank connections at Plaid. Some limited records may be retained where required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes, and routine backups are cycled out on a rolling basis.

Your rights & controls

Cookies & sessions

We use only the storage necessary to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (for example, your session token and your theme/HUD settings). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

Persistence is not directed to, and not intended for, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Persistence is operated from the United States, and your data is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the service from outside the U.S., you understand your data will be transferred to and handled there.

Changes to this policy

Persistence is in active development. We will update this policy as the product evolves and as we add or change processors, and we'll revise the date below when we do. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.

This Privacy Policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. Persistence is an independent product in active development; you should review this policy against your own circumstances. Last updated: June 16, 2026.
